Ideas and Further Progress

We had a group discussion on what we should do for our final idea, I made 2 improvement pages as to where I want to take this project.
My best idea was to use the handprint poppies. My tutor also really liked this idea, he said it would work effective if I used my hand and sprayed over it for a negative effect, as well as creating a stencil to create a positive design.
Although I did some other experimenting within my sketchbook.

The idea of using my hands to create the poppies made me think about the different ways I could create a poppy using my hands. I created a peace poppy so the meaning was clear and it also suited to what I wanted to do within this project, I decided to not use this design, because the peace symbol can represent many different meanings, so I decided not to use this design.
I created smudge poppies because I thought it would look disorientated to the point where it would be unrecognisable but still be able to tell by the colours what the illustration is. I decided not to take this design forward because its not a simple design, and I want a clear design that my client and audience will be able to recognise right away.
I also did a finger poppy, this design was was created to represent the Solider's that have served for our country, and they have something to represent them through art. I decided not to go with this idea because even though the idea worked, the fact I'd have to spend 30 minutes on creating each poppy is too time consuming with the limited amount of time we have to create the designs at the skate park.
The palm poppy didn't work whatsoever, purely because it looks like a mess of colour, this design wasn't effective at all.

The designs shown to the left and the right of the screen are of shapes, within these shapes are illustrative and sketched poppies. The shapes were created free hand and formed with water colour paint. I used different coloured pens to make the little illustrations really stand out on the paint. I decided not to use this design because I felt like the shape took away the real focus of the illustration itself.

This was the most effective design because these 'hand poppies' are not only illustrative but they can also represent a lot of things, including the hand prints for all the Solider's that have served for our country. I may possibly be using this in my final project.

Another idea I had was to use my hands to create the poppies, using the petals as hand prints and using my palm as the centre of the poppy, the stem being my arm, and the leaves created using my hands once again.
